Digital SLR camera...

I would like to get a digital SLR camera. The only one seems to have a decent price is the Canon EOS Rebel. However, I have a Tamron (for Nikon) lens. Is there a NIkon digital SLR camera out there ? Could I use that lens on it ?

Or are there other digital cameras that have the features of a SLR ?

Nikon makes three or four DSLR cameras and, I think, is about to introduce a sub $1000 model if they haven't already. You can check out good reviews of all Nikon and Canon DSLRs at dpreview.com and steves-digicams.com

SLR digital cameras are usually used by professionals or very serious amateurs because they are expensive, large/bulky, and complicated.

Sony opened with its SLRs with a Sony D700 and later with an improved D770. By today's standards, because of pixel ratings, they are obsolete, but are good enough for computer screens. In fact, they do an excellent job, and they do not break the bank. Later, you can upgrade to a Canon or Nikon.

Go to these sites for reviews and eBay action sites where used ones can be purchased. Sony no longer makes these models and so used is all that is available, even though a few months ago, I purcahsed a brand new Sony D770 on eBay for $400 that originally sold for $2000 when first released.

Nikon D70 just came out and is the same price as the Cannon Rebel. Get the Nikon, it is just as good and all your lenses will work with it.

Canon EOS digital

I have one of these,it is a great camera,I bought a 35 MM EOS camera also.I got it very gheap,and the lenses are interchangeable.I also got refurbished lenses from 18 to 200mm for a fair price.The only camera I would get instead is the new 10.2 MP Canon EOS Rebel XTI model.Hope this helps.D.A.Hinkel

Mounting the lens you have

It will work with the Nikon D50 or D80. The D80 has some nice pro features. Canon has changed its' mounting system more than twice.
