I've had a Pentax 105 for years but its not digital. In the meantime we bought another camera 4x zoom - can't think what the name is - but its OK but not for long range. We now have some money to buy a new camera. We take a lot of photos of the mountains in Spain where we live, monuments and most of all traditional processions such as Moors & Christians that by 9 pm its going dark and the dark photos are terrible. In fact so are the mountains and at first thought it was camera shake. The other problem I have in particular is looking through the viewfinder to see what picture I am taking - ok i shouldn't be looking through the view finder I am told but I need a big space to see what I am taking a picture of. Sorry its a bit haphazard on this posting but all the camera there are, I am totally confused. Someone recommended the Canon Powershot SX200.IS but it looks quite bulky and we often carry a camera in our pocket - we were also recommend to get a camera 10x - and now I have just gone into our spanish supermarket and now completely confused. We intend to get the camera from Amazon by the way, so if its a bit over £100 we don't mind - pension came through today lol

One of the best compact cameras currently available is the Sony RX100. The reason why it is so good is because for its size, it has a very large digital sensor. It also has a very bright lens (at wide angle). The downside is that it is very expensive at £460.

I think you might enjoy the Sony WX100. It has a 10x lens. While it does not have a larger sensor or brighter lens, it uses fancy in-camera processing to create some rather amazing photos...as long as you do not look at them too closely. It would allow you to take photos in dark places for instance, although it only works on stationary subjects (not moving processions!) Amazon UK has it for £130.
