How do I attach the lens cap cord?

My girlfriend just got a Sony DSC-HX200v camera for Christmas but can't find any instructions on how to attach the free end of the lens cap "tether" to the camera so it doesn't fall off every time she turn on her camera.

I found several example pictures and they show the tether attached to the shoulder strap at the point where the shoulder strap attached to the camera.

Another did not have the shoulder strap and the tether was attached where the shoulder strap would attach.

..
