Panasonic tz27/tz30 shadow problem

I have recently bought a panasonic tz27 camera, but I'm getting shadows in the bottom left corner when taking indoor flash photos. I think it's the shadow being cast from the telephoto lens. Could that be possible? Has anyone else had this problem?

I read many customer reviews on this and its sister cameras.

The only comment about the flash was:

"One thing to watch for when shooting is to not allow the end of the middle finger to ride up on the camera body as it will obscure the built-in flash."
