Image Number Question

I recently purchased a used FinePix S2950 on eBay.

Upon taking a picture and viewing it in the camera, I noticed that the image number was 999-9537. Does this mean that almost 1,000,000 pictures have been taken with this camera or am I not calculating correctly?

The camera appears to be in excellent condition, both operational and in physical appearance. I have reformatted the SD card and reset the image counter to 100-0001.

I read on page 96 this can be SET.

So it means someone could have set it higher?

Some cameras have a counter of how many times the unit took a picture. I can't find that feature on this model.

I believe it can only be reset to 100-001. I don't think there are any other options (pg. 100). Thanks anyway.
