Digital Camera with 30 to 35x wide angle zoom

I am interested in getting a digital camera that I can use for scenery, close up shots. Any sugguestion which brands or models to get. Need 30 to 35x wide angle zoom, panromaric, be able to take black and white photo, etc. Thanks.

From the description you gave, the camera could range from a few hundred dollars to thousands of dollars.
You could be thinking of Point and Shoot cameras up through full frame DSLR (digital single lens reflex) cameras.
There are lots of cameras that can meet your needs.

So, what price range camera are you interested in?

Digital Camera 30X - 42X wide angle

Cameras (under $500) with extra long zoom and a wide angle lens:

Canon SX500
Fujifilm S4500
Fujifilm HS30EXR
Nikon P510
Olympus SP-810UZ
Sony HX100V
Sony HX200V

The last 4 have Panoramic ability built-in.
But all can produce panoramic pictures with the use of software.

To my knowledge, all can produce black and white pictures.
If not - it is easy to convert any color picture to black and white by the use of free software (Irfanview).

Which would I pick - none of the above because I have no need for that much zoom.

Caution:
When you zoom beyond about 10X you should use a tripod to prevent camera movement.
Even with the tripod you also need to use the 10 second timer to trip the shutter because at such long zooms just touching the camera to trip the shutter will shake the camera enough to cause a blurred picture.

Superzoom

There is only one kind of camera that packs a 30 to 35x zoom into a single lens, and that is a superzoom, or as Cnet calls them, megazooms. The current king is the Panasonic FZ200, but it has 'only' a 24x zoom lens. You would probably enjoy the Sony HX200V, which has a 30x lens, and lots of auto-shooting options including panorama and nine different Picture Effects.
