Digital camera advice please

I'm looking to purchase a new camera but there are an overwhelming amount of choices all with great reviews. What I'm looking for would be something with a long distance zoom lens and excellent image quality (for a non-SLR), preferably with RAW format. Two examples I've looked into are the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ150 and the Canon PowerShot SX40 HS. Some reviews say the DMC has image quality issues but it was recommended by Consumer Reports. I own a Powershot SX100 IS and I was satisfied with the image quality but it broke and I want to upgrade. Thanks for the help.

The FZ150 is probably the king of superzooms, having all the features a more serious photographer would want. It's lens isn't as long as other superzooms, but it has RAW capability, PASM, and a hotshoe. No other superzoom has all three of those things, save for the DSLR-sized Fujifilm X-S1.

There are no other fixed lens cameras that will have the same or more zoom lens than your SX100 that also offer RAW. The closest available would be the Nikon P7100, which has a 28-200mm equivalent (7x) lens, coupled with a 1/1.7" sensor.
