Help chosing a camera!!!

I need some help deciding between a few of the full sized megazoom cameras. I was really wanted a DSLR but with the zoom I want they would not fit into my budget of $600. I think I will really like the megazooms, but I want the one with the best picture quality. I am considering the Nikon P510, Panasonic FZ150, and the Canon SX40. There are also some Fujifilms in this range but I cant find reviews on cnet for them. I plan to use the camera to photograph my kids and pets. I also want a camera that is good for places like the zoo etc. I do not have a camcorder so I want good video also. I care less about all the fantsy stuff and more about the image quailty, stabilization and zoom!! Thanks for your help!

The Panasonic is the one to beat for image quality and video. You shouldn't be concerned with stabilization. All of them have it and it works well for what it does. But bear in mind that it only helps prevent blur from camera shake. It will NOT prevent blur from too low a shutter speed used on a moving subject. In other words, if you think IS will make all your kids-running-around photos blur-free, it won't.

The Panasonic also has the least amount of zoom of all megazooms, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. The longer a lens is, generally the more optically compromised it is, and it's nearly impossible to hold a long zoom steady for good quality photos, even with stabilization.

Absolutely can Not go wrong with Canon Power Shot A1000IS every picture I post on the internet I use this camera and all of my investigations at work I use the A1000IS. Only one issue --a little hard on batteries so make sure they are 100% New and Fresh batteries and check those dates on battery packaging when you buy them, It takes two AA cells. If you choose a rechargeable AA Cell make sure they're the best rechargeable money can buy. You get what you pay for so go all out, it will be worth it.
