Digital cameras forum: "access is denied" importing photos from fuji jz300 to win7

Unfortunately, no, the camera is in playback mode. Per the manual, I press the play button for one second while the camera is connected, which powers it on in playback.

I just tried disconnected both ends of cable, starting camera in playback mode, connecting cable, connecting to PC, and the result is the same. "Access is denied"
As soon as the camera is connected to PC, the playback screen, showing my already taken photo, disappears, and is replaced by a blank screen, except one black line reading USB with the usb logo

Thanks for the reply. Well I dont have avast, I have AVG, I will try disabling resident shield etc and see how that goes.

I happen to have a dual boot system with win7/xp pro. Booted into xp pro, connected camera, no problem copying or deleting photos from camera.

windows 7 sucks.

And I didn't see that noted till now.

In many dual boot systems I find permission issues. And this sounds JUST LIKE a permission issue. Given only the story so far, I hesitate to offer any fix since I could break XP and then what would such then?

dual boot OS's are run off separate hard drives but i guess that doesnt matter? never had an issue with anything hardware or software because of having dual boot system.

anyway, Xp can access the camera, i dont really care about using the fuji software in windows 7.

Unless we are using drive trays and swapping drives, the Windows installer and more has been known to crash and burn the users as it tries to access the other drive.

Again, the EVENT VIEWER may have clues, but this area is full of potholes.

This camera keeps getting more nutty. Today, XP won't recognize it, so I have no way to retrieve photos. Win7 won't even recognize it now, not to mention the inability to access them via Win7.
i have a laptop running Win 7 Ultimate 64 bit. Won';t recognize the camera either. Can't blame dual boot here.

I noticed the usb cable is very very touchy, on the camera end. You really have to jam it in there to make a very very tight connection for the camera to realize it is connected to a usb port. if you move the cable the slightest bit, you risk losing the connection with the PC.

Defective camera?

I still have about 2 weeks to return this thing and get a refund, minus the 5 dollars shipping plus whatever I have to spend to return it. If I buy an sd card, none of these problems matter, but thats BS.I shouldnt have to live with a half assed half working camera.
Bought it "like new" on ebay from a guy with stellar feedback. He might not have even known it was buggy.

I have not used the import from cameras in about 10 years. Back then it was unreliable enough for me to pop the memory card and use card readers.

This could be as simple as a bum USB cable, but the mention of Windows 7 Ultimate is getting bad press as over half the machines with that at the shop are cracked copies. It's hard to repair such things.

my xbox 360, which definitely works with digital cameras via usb, does not detect this camera either.

that makes: 3 Os's, 2 computers, and an xbox 360 - none of which can detect this camera.

is this really "normal" behavior for a digital camera, or did i get stuck with a defective camera on ebay?

That is the first time you have mentioned that word.

Lots of people get rid of their problems by selling their problems on ebay.

That takes you back to the possibility of a bad cable or a defective connector on the camera.
I suggest you get a magnifying glass and take a good look at the cable connector and camera connector. Check for a bent or broken pin.

While connected to the PC during bootup, BIOS does not recognize camera as a connected USB device.
So.. 3 OS's, an xbox 360, 2 computers, and BIOS...none of which can recognize this camrea.
