Who recommends SLR using AA batteries?

I usually only buy and like any cameras that use Lithium Ion batteries and not AA batteries. But today found a great price on a mid-size SLR the Fujifilm FinePix S3200 but it uses AA batteries. I thought that type of battery wear out quickly? Any thought or recommendations...thanks Rose

A set of Alkaline AA batteries will usually last for about 50 pictures (or less).
That is why most people use rechargeable NiMH AA batteries.
They will usually last for 200 (or more) pictures and then you recharge them.

You can buy a set of NiMH AA batteries (and a charger) for about $10 to $15.
You can find them at any store that sells digital cameras.
Look for the batteries in the camera department.

Best AA batteries Energizer "Ultimate Lithium" batteries. These last a long time and seem to be the most powerful AA batteries on the market. Another thing: they last 15 years when not in use and operate beyond the temperature parameters of most cameras: -40F to +140F

I have a Pentax K-r, took it to Europe last summer, took hundreds of photos - used two sets of these batteries. I don't take video, so I don't know how long they last for that. I am so glad I did not have a proprietary battery in the camera; I would have had to carry many pounds of chargers and voltage converters. Thank you Pentax.

If you read the various forums on photo websites you will see the frustrations that travel photographers have because the camera makers will not produce a high level, large sensor, AA-powered compact camera with a fast lens. The reason they do this is to make you buy multiple copies of their camera-specific lithium-ion batteries: more profit for them.
