Small camera for wife to carry with her

My wife has a Nikon DSLR that she uses as her primary camera but it is rather cumbersome to carry with her all the time. Looking to buy her a small camera that she can carry in her purse. Since it is for her purse I want something that is fairly small and light weight but is still a quality camera. Any suggestions anyone?

Small Companion to a DSLR

One man who frequently answers questions on this Forum usually carries a DSLR camera.
He uses a Canon S95 as his companion camera, and has great praise for the little camera.
Canon has announced an update for the S95 and it is called S100.
(there is an old Canon camera called S100 which is only 2 megapixels, so don't get them confused)
