Nikkor 28mm 2.8 vs Nikkor 35mm 1.8 af-s dx

Looking for a fixed wide angle lens that will not cost me an arm and a leg. Currently, my lens of choice is the Nikkor 50mm 1.8d. The quality is just unparalleled, but I want a wide angle lens of similar (if not better) image quality. I hear good things about both lenses, and then I read bad things too. Is the soft focus and vignetting on the 28mm that bad? How about the chromatic aberration on the 35mm? The chromatic aberration on the 18-55mm af-s kit lens was terrible (to me), so I sold it. I read reviews and need some real world comparison from users. I'd like a nice wide angle look for landscape or indoor photography. Quality pictures in low light situations is definitely a plus.
