Punk Christmas Tree Pictures

Has anyone successfully taken what they think is a good picture of a lighted Christmas tree in a well lit or poorly lit room?

I have three digital cameras and all pictures come out poorly focused and the lights come out as bright blobs.

I guess I need a "scene" mode for Christmas trees.

A close-up works fine but isn't very interesting.

Apparently, the problem is caused when the Christmas tree lights are the main source of illumination. Pictures taken this morning with lots of indirect sunlight in the room produce acceptable pictures.

You may be moving the camera.

When a digital camera takes a picture in low light, it holds the shutter open long enough to collect the light. If the camera moves while the shutter is open, the picture will blur. Use a tripod.

It may also be having trouble focusing. You may want to try some sort of manual intervention on the focus.
