Digital cameras forum: Can not decide.....

I just bought a Canon SX 20. I already own 2 Canon SLR's (D20, D50)so obviously, I like Canon!..;P). I took photos with the camera over our vacation, and about 75% of them look bad. I was just using the Auto setting on the camera. Most of the photos look washed out and overexposed. The pictures were taken in bright sunlight. Looking at some of the bad photos, it looks the camera set the ISO way too high. The photos I took where I did not use the zoom, for the most part, were fine. Since then, I have fiddled with it, set the ISO to 80, and keep the camera in "P" mode. The last few sets of pictures I have taken have come out very well. This camera was to replace my beloved Panasonic FZ30 which I take on all of our vacations. I take wildlife photography, so a large zoom is a must. I have never had to go through so much work initially to get good photos. Now I see Fuji has the HS10 with a 30x zoom and is designed more like the FZ30. I have until Friday to return the Canon camera to Best Buy! Here is what I like about the SX20:

1. It is a Canon, and I like the quality
2. It uses AA batteries instead of proprietary lithium ion batteries
3. It has a nice zoom.
4. The stabilizer appears to work very well
5. It has a nice weight to it. Not too heavy, but not so light where it feels cheaply made.

I do not like:

1. It does not work well on "Auto"
2. I prefer the zoom to be on the lens instead of electronic
3. No option for add on lenses (You would think a 20x zoom would be enough!)

Does anybody have experience with both cameras where you can guide me one way or another? If you have the Canon, can you give me any tips? The Fuji has got a lot of mixed reviews. Is this camera overrated? Any help you can provide will be appreciated!
