Flip Type Camcorders or Digital Camera w/ Video

I have been looking at some of the pocket type camcorders (Flip/KodakZi8, etc), and am wondering what is the advantage of using this over my Canon Digital Camera SD1200 that also does video? Thanks.

I have not understood the attraction of the Flip camera.
The newer Flip and the Kodak Zi8 can record High Definition video.
The Canon SD1200 does not record High Definition video.
But many other digital cameras can.

I;m not that familiar with the Flip's (et al) feature set, but in general, recording video on a digital camera often gives less than ideal results. Even the high end cameras with HD capture leave out crucial features. In most cases, you can't change zoom or sometimes even focus during a video capture. Also, the Flips are pretty cheap. A lot cheaper than a high end digital camera with HD capture.

Kodak Zi8

I've got a Kodak Zi8 which I use primarily to shoot ski videos (view samples at http://www.karlkelman.com). Its been durable, withstood some pretty good shocks and moisture, and takes great pictures. The videos you see on my website have been downsized to load for the web - the originals that I can see on my computer are about 10 times bigger, and the best of them, shot in good light, look like HD TV. Not bad for something I paid $150 for...
