Digital cameras forum: Need help picking a camera with action feature

I don't believe that Canon ever made an A950 camera.
I don't find one on any of my sources.

Canon did make an A95 camera.

If you have an A95 camera, I have good news for you.

From your description of the problem, you likely have a CCD sensor that is going bad.
If that is true, Canon will fix the camera for free.

Canon may be chosen most, but other camera manufacturers have caught up to Canon. If you want to stay with the same size then you could look at the A720IS. It would give you a larger zoom and image stabilization.

I've only met one person, including the time selling cameras, that had a problem with their Canon. Most of my family and friends have bought Canon(a few others with Fuji and my Mom with Kodak due to the ease of use) and not have a problem. This is from consumer reports.

I looked at consumer reports brand reliability section and they list Panasonic as the #1 followed by Sony, Olympus, Kodak, and Canon all tied for #2 as the best in the brand repair history (based on a bunch of research). You have to remember first that there are always lemons; products that only one or two have issues out of the millions made.

So please bring relevant information instead of the small personal sample of yourself or the few threads you have read compared to the millions of cameras sold each year by Canon and others.

The only manufacturer in notable names that I would stay away from would be Polaroid, due to seeing so many of them coming back as defective.

They sit at 8% failure rate while the second place companies were at 5%. Panasonic seems to always be at the top in all the things they make in regards to reliability.
