Digital cameras forum: Sanyo VPC S600 - digital camera

Sanyo is not one of the big players in the digital camera scene.

Therefore, none of the well known reviewers will review them.

Sanyo is better know for a niche market of hybrid cameras.
Combination camcorder and digital cameras.
They tend to be expensive.
Some of these have been reviewed and got mixed reviews.

I looked at the S600 on the Sanyo site and they don't publish all of the specifications. That makes me wonder.

If you buy it, make sure that you can return it and get a refund if you don't like it.

For a low priced digital camera, check out the Canon A550.

My niece just got one of these & it's fine for her MySpace photos but to put it bluntly, it sucks over-all.

The picture quality (at the highest settings) is worse than our very first digital camera the Kodak DC215 which is over 6 years old & only 2 megapixels!

The pictures of close-ups are pretty good but if you can see anything in the background it's grainy & pixelated.

A very steady hand is absolutely essential, it blurs very easily.

The screen on the back doesn't do the actual photos justice, most look pretty bad even if they're actually good, so transfer them before you delete!

You MUST use the flash at ALL times even in sunlight otherwise it'd dark and difficult to see.

Her camera also adds a pink hue to everything but I don't know if this is an isolated case or not.

Suffice it to say that I'll never buy a Sanyo myself after seeing this one in action.

This was finally a hand me down from my mother.
99 dollar camera and the batteries always go dead within a few days of being inserted. It's a vampire device which means, even when shut off it drains power.

The picture quality can be quite good but you must hold damn still and max the settings. Great for close ups, fair for distance shots but it's short comings and problems these should have never sold for more than 35 bucks at the time of their debut!!
