kodak easyshare p850 - Memory Card Unreadable Continuous

Hi,

My SD media cards I have used only once. I used my Compaq to download my pictures from the available media slots on my tower. The Easyshare kept saying 'Memory card unreadable' and i couldn't get to the menu to format SOooo, I went and bought another new generic SD Media card and it did the same thing. I talked with Kodak support and suggested that I buy an actual Kodak SD card for my Easyshare. So I went and bought a Kodak specific SD card and got to the menu to format the SD media card from Kodak. I selected format and it would format and then it wuold come back and say Memory card unreadable, and then it became and endless loop, I'd format again, unreadable, format again, unreadable and during this I couldn't get back to menu. so I shut the camera down.

Is this a known issue with this camera and what can be done and what is the cost to repair (guesstimate)..

Memory Card

Take one of the memory cards and put it into the card reader on your computer.

Your computer will see it as being a new hard-drive.

Use Windows Explorer to find the card reader/memory card.
See if you can find anything on the card.
If so.....delete all files and all folders on the memory card.

Remove the card and put it into your camera.
Do not format the card with the camera at this time.

See if you can take some photos on the card.
If so....now find the format command on the camera and format the card.
Try taking some photos.

..........

If your card now works......do the same for your other cards.
If your card doesn't work.....at what point did it fail to work?
