HELP! Need a digital camera that can shoot well in low light!

I'm looking into getting a new compact digital camera that can shoot great pics in low light- think nightclubs & bars. I want either a 4 or 5-megapixal camera that can fit into my pocket if possible.

I've currently been using an Olympus Stylus 400 which takes great pictures outdoors but can't take pictures of subjects that are more than 10 feet away in low light (indoors included). I would prefer a camera that accepts xD memory cards so I won't hveto spend more money on a different storage media.

Any help would greatly be appreciated...

The problem with most consumer models is to meet the price points, the lens and sensor must be cheap. If you seriously want low light, then look for big lens to gather more light.

The Panasonic Lumix DMC-LC1 would be such an example and it can supply you with readouts that will tell you how the shot will turn out.

If you see a small lens, you may want to take a pass.

If you want to shoot in low light, it means that you will need a fast lens. Your problem here is that fast lenses are big, and will not fit in your pocket. Basically you will not get great pictures in low light with small cameras. However there is kinda of a workaround that will allow you to take "decent" pics in low light. You can get a camera that lets you adjust the iso. My canon s230 allows me to do this. The higher the iso, the more noise will be in your images, but they will actually come out, and the flash's range will be extended. Some cameras have night mode, but what this does is, let the shutter open longer, which means that your images could be blurred, if you dont hold the camera still. Or you can mess with the exposure, but again, you will want to have the camera still.
