Need some help here on why a PC cannot read a JPG file name
by taboma - 7/18/06 6:56 PM
that starts with IMG_0305.JPG.
The file is from my Canon SD500. Downloaded to my Mac. Uploaded to a USB memory stick and downloaded again to my neighbors PC computer.
Here is his explanation to me.
Some of the unreadable files have titles that start with ".IMG", but others have only numbers in the title field. I believe that they are all "jpg" files, but they are a version that won't open on my computer right now. Our cameras don't produce picture files with those kind of file numbers, so they probably are not pictures taken by me. Perhaps some or all of them are your picture files from your Apple computer, but 158 sounds like a lot of pictures.
Let me know what you think and what you can do to re-write these unreadable JPG files in a version that I can read them. I would like to complete this process soon, so that I can provide the pictures to the kids.
OK! Why can't a PC read these files? They came right off my Cannon.
All the files end with a prefix of JPG. I can read all files from his digital camera (Make?? Don't know)
Any suggestions here to help me out?
Thanks everyone that has a solution or idea.
Renamed files he has no problem with. Just that IMG_thing.
