Digital cameras forum: Compress 7.2 Megapixel files to email "sendable"

I use Image Resizer, one of Microsoft Power Toys Tweaks:

Note that nothing apparently happens when this is installed. What you will see is ''Resize Pictures'' in the menu when you right click on an image.

Jpegs are compressed versions of image files, and you can select the amount of compression you want to apply. I have recently emailed some 8+ megapixel files with sizes of about 400-500 kilobytes by selecting a sufficiently large amount of compression. You do not have to reduce the file's resolution to do this.

In fact, if your camera stores its images as jpegs, they are not 7 megs in size. That is the uncompressed size.

I suggest that you look at Adobe Photoshop Elements 3 or later (if there is a newer version).

MoJoShrunk will do exactly what you are looking for.

In addition to being able to configure maximum dimensions (640x480, 800x600, 1024x768, ?x?), you can also set up a maximum file size. Then when it compresses your pictures it will automatically select the best compression ratio for your specified file size.

That 1st posting using imageResizerPowerToy is the way to go. You have the option of 3 downsizings to chose from. I've been using it for a year.
