Well I think your right, there isn't much information about them.

Second, the Megxon M500 media player is a camera/media player, that has now get this a 5 megapixel cmos chip.
Looks to good to be true, but if true, this would be the second generation of Video cameras.
Also, you can record off your TV any program and view it later.It has a 128 meg internal memory, and can use a SD card for extra memory. The only thing that could be a problem is that the charger that charges the Rechargeable Lithium Battery works on 110 volts, and might not work on 220volts.I may be wrong, but from pictures I've seen, this may be the case.

By what I've found out, this is a media box more than a camera, I was sent a video clip from someone who has one, recorded off DVD and it was impressively good.

The high megapixel claims are just the interpolated figures, I've been VGA res cameras, so I'll be more than happy with this. I'm getting one mainly for MP3 and movies on the go, it seems perfectly suited. Replacement NP60 batteries are inexpensive too and chargers, incl. multiple battery chargers are very cheap.

It won't be something a discerning photographer is ever going to want, but for taking snaps while on trips and stuff, seems great. I'm getting one as soon as I can afford it within the next fortnight.

No. But I've bought plenty of things which are not well-known and never find their way into reviews and most is garbage, but you do find the odd gem.

I was thinking of doing some kind of review when I get one, I'm just broke at the moment.

I've bought one too (it's great so far) but the user manuals (in Adobe) are corrupt - there are lots of blank pages between page 6 and 44.
Does anyone have a non-corrupted user manual in English for the camera - not the other software that comes with it - that perhaps could be emailed to me?

At the very top of your ad, it states that this is a 12 megapixel Digital Camera.

It is not a 12 megapixel digital camera.

This would make me question the truthfullness of all of your ads.

Akin is absolutely right, only a fool is going to believe it's a 12MP camera! It's 5MP and it can scale the image UP TO 12MP using interpolation - don't bother, just use 5MP. Read the specifications!

Hi Akin, I didn't get mine from you in the end as it was bought as a present a week before I was going to buy it, but I really enjoyed our emails and would certainly recommend to anyone reading this that they should come to you first. I hope that I'm not bugging you but I really need help! I bought a Megxon M500 mostly for the MP3, but I cant get the songs to load. I love all the features on this media box, but it can make a person feel, on the not so brite side! If you can will PLEAS3E HELP?

My one arrived yesterday, I'm really pleased with it. There are a few issues, a lot of headphones I have (which are quite decent) pick up noise from the device when playing MP3 tracks, but I'm now using some cheap ones from B&Q and the noise isn't as noticable. Having no AC adaptor means any TV recording has to be done off battery, so I am buying an AC/DC adaptor which can do 5V. I've also ordered an extra NP60 battery which cost under 5 off ebay. It DOES come with a battery charger of course but it doesn't charge the battery in the unit itself. The battery life seems excellent, but I've not tested it thoroughly yet.

I'm a Mac user so it is a pain trying to convert video to play on it, I have to use Virtual PC and the Windows software to make AVI files it likes, I'm quite an expert at encoding videos under Linux and Mac OS, this device uses some weird MPEG4 video/MP2 audio combo which I've not had time to figure out yet.

As a camcorder I am quite impressed, it beats my old Sony Clie NX70 hands down and every other MPEG4 recorder I've tried. As a camera it seems good, I've turned the image size down to 1.3 megapixels, anything larger is simply beyond any requirement I'm ever going to have.

I will try and do a review and post the URL for anyone else who is interested, info for this product is impossible to find except the manufacturers info which is not very useful. The only let down is low sound quality, but I'm pleased overall with it.

There is noise on audio playback in MP3 mode, distortion etc. it has four equaliser presets which make it worse.

Video sound is MPEG-1 audio at a low bitrate, making it ok but not fantastic. Video itself can be set to VGA quality - quite good but you'd only get an hour at most with a 1GB card.

I encoded a Dr Who episode at 60% quality - a 45 minute video was crunched down to 100MB and the sound is acceptable as was the picture for watching on the screen.

If you lower frame rate and resolution to cif on the menu for movie you get smaller files.
When you record from the tv you don't hear sound on the camera until you play it back.

ciff should still work for recording from tv. Recorded movies can be compressed further by Blaze Video magic - which ships with the M500.
DVD Decrypter and DVD Shrink were all freely available when I last looked.
If you want to invest in any other software - inexpensive- Pocket DVD will squeeze an unencrypted dvd down to sizes under 500mb to fit on a memory card for a pocket PC - but fine for our purposes too!!

Thanks for posting the info for the user manual it came in handy when i recieved my new Digital box, i guess the missing pages on the user manual is a common thing.

Well so far i am impressed with this toy, i have taken pictures in all resolutions and the quality is good although the auto flash is a bit hit or miss and i found it easier to switch it on manually, the pictures are not so good im poor light but still good enough for us amatures who just point and click, The zoom is good and is also usefull for video recording.

The video recording is not bad, in VGA mode the quality is good but can be a little bit jumpy, in VGA mode i recorded 1 min of action which used just over 16mb of space and in the lower res mode 1 min = 4mb.

I also recorded 1 min of a dvd which also used 16mb of space but i was very impressed with the quality, it was very clear and my son now watches bob the builder on it during long trips in the car which keeps him quiet ( THANK YOU ).

The mp3 player is basic and the sound quality was a bit poor but i changed the ear phones from the ones supplied and the quality is much better and i can now use all the four graphic functions and it no longer sounds thin.

The audio recording on video and memo is good and makes a big differance to my home movies but the built in speaker is a bit on the poor side and is only really usefull while playing back your video clips in a quiet enviroment, totally useless for mp3.

The Large screen is very good and gives a great view when taking pictures and makes the games worth playing, I now have a hand held video player for the kids to watch during long trips.( 10 out of 10 )

The case is very well designed and is a bit bigger than a cigarette packet and I found the controls easy to use, im disapointed that there is no protection for the lense as i tend to place it face down straight onto the lense.

The games are good and the other nik naks i guess will be usefull to differant people.

The software is good and usefull but is a little out dated, the accessories are good (Carry Case)(Charger)(all the leeds to connect to a pc and tv/dvd/satalite)but remember your dvd/satalite needs the correct connections to connect to the camera ie Two audio (white and red) jacks and one video jack (yellow)

In general i like this toy, there are plenty of features the only draw back is that the features are limited and i guess it was a trade off = more features or more function, Hey to be hounest i never used half the features on my last camera which cost a fortune and i could'nt play games on it or listen to music lol

Please remember this is only my impression of this gadget and i am in no way trying to influence any one, but for the price i paid for it on ebay you can't really loose.

I have now just ordered 2 extra battery's and three 1GB SD cards and as soon as i can find one i will buy a power supply 5v/2amps ( Any ideas ), this lot will cost more than the camera but im planning to use this allot.
