SmartWare is an app that has to be installed on the computer so as to mount the drive and categorize the files.
When the hard drive is connected to the computer, SmartWare should pop up automatically.
But nothing happens when I do that....
PLEASE HELP

but first a question.

These files that are on the MyBook, do you have them backed up somewhere?
Are they a backup of something that you still have the originals of?

I the answer to both those questions is yes, then I suggest that you purchase the WD USB cable and see if you can get the drive to mount. If you can, use disk utility to format the drive as Mac OS X Extended (journaled)

Another question. Have you tried connecting this drive to another computer, like your friends machine?

Is there any form of warranty on this drive?

no back up at all...

when I connect it to my dad's HP laptop it asks to install the software but then I didn't proceed to install it.
should I try it?

the warranty seem to last until this may...

I will try to get a WD cable...

any more suggestions??
