Need help with RAID 5 on a Mac

I have an OWC 4 TB RAID 5 hooked up to a Mac Mini running Lion. It is used to back up all my CDs and rips of my DVDs to use as a media server for my home theater. Despite having RAID 5, all my data is lost due to a drive failure. I have since learned that despite RAID 5, I still need to back up. My question is this, does anyone here have any suggestions for diagnostic software to warn of impending RAID/hard drive crashes? I have seen SoftRAID (does not work with RAID 5), Speed Tools and a few others. All seem to just use SMART, but I could be wrong. I want something that can run a regular diagnostic on my RAID and hopefully prevent this disaster in the future. And yes, I am now making a regular back up also.

RAID 5 loss

I think from the help of other data saving companies that PROBABLY 2 drives came off line and data should be there, but at a cost of ~$1,000 to recover.

OWC has yet to answer my question on software to monitor the RAID.

Will post more when I know more.

http://www.macsales.com/ is well, a marketer of products. I don't see them as an app or hardware developer.

Maybe Apple's very own servers are best here. Apple's monitoring is legendary.
