Mac Mouse erratic action

All of the sudden my mouse on my Mac Dual GHz Power PC G5 is acting up. I have 2.5 GM RAM
It suddenly disappears and then pops up on either the extreme left or the extreme right of the desktop.
I am operating on MAc OS 10.5.8
Aside from the fact that I might need a new one, is there a possible fix?

Always try the usuals.

Apply as they do apply or not:

1. Batteries.
2. Charging.
3. Cleaning (take lint off rollers or laser ports.)
4. Try another surface for the mouse.

Yes, clean it and restart too. The one time that happened to me (sadly I had to have a PC at that time), that's all it took. Love our Mac-people!
