Why won't my new Ipod Touch 2G connect to my home internet?

-Apple Ipod Touch
-2nd Generation
-8gb

I can connect perfectly fine to various networks for example telstra hotspots and open routers, but cannot connect to my own home wireless network. I do not know what the problem is, as I enter the EXACT same password as I enter for my laptop each time and my laptop connection works every time. The security is WEP and the band is 802.11g if this information is relevant. Also, the router is netgear.

I have already tried the whole reset cycle and it has not solved the problem.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Now try your wifi as WPA

WEP has far too many issues and is good as no security today.

So my answer is change to WPA.

MAC security

activated on your router? Sometimes, some people set it and totally forgot about having MAC security activated, thus couldn't add any new wireless devices until awhile later.

The problem is completely Off-The-Wall

I spent about 3 hours entering and re-entering my password before finally getting it right because stupid iPod Touch 2G won't show you the password characters.

After all that suffering, I was connected to my Router but had no WWW / Internet access.

I have a Netgear n600 Dual Band router with up-to-date firmware.

In the wireless settings, I switched the 2.4GHz channel select from "Auto" to Channel "2". It was already broadcasting on Channel 2 for the wireless B/G/N 2.4GHz , but for whatever crazy reason. Changing from 'Auto" to "2" fixed whatever hangup the fool iPod Touch was sufffering from and it immediately started downloading my email messages.

The Safari web-browser finally started loading web-pages as well. I don't know what kind of jacked-up WiFi situation is going on in the iPod touches to make it so they can't handle auto-channel switching mode on a Router but simply switching to manual is what cured the "no internet access" problem for me.

On my WNR3800 I had to set the WiFi to 150 megabit mode or a few devices would not connect. Your move to B/G/N mode might do something similar.

There's also the channel problem. If it's on Auto and the region is set to non-NA then it can go to a channel your NA devices can't connect to.
