I have a phenom II x4 840 processor.

and 3 gigs of ddr2 ram.

I think what they are referring to is the pcie1.0/2.0 stuff.

Your mobo is 1.0......the card is 2.0.

Unless your a serious gamer I would not fret about it.

While I've yet to find issues with PCIe cards and slots, your post omitted the PSU details needed for a quick check. Many PSUs split the +12V power and you can push a PSU over the edge on one rail. If the PSU is a single rail model it should be fine discounting the issues folk have with drivers and OSes.

I've got an 4 pin molex just sitting around, for the supplementary power needed by the gpu.(i assume a connector is provided in the package.)

Look at the sticker on the PSU and read how many +12 rails there are. If more than one you have to research how many Amperes this card takes and then you want about 2X that amount on the +12V rail to be safe.

okay. i'll not be able to check that until the next weekend.

anyway how about the bottleneck thing? the 30-40% potential of the card?
I'm not gonna over clock the card or any stuff like that.

So, i wont have any bottleneck? Another guy from another forum told me that i'll just be able to use the cards' 30-40% potential. He didn't explain why though. Like i said, no plans of overclocking and i'll just be using it for casual gaming. Thanks
