CD Burner burns some music tracks

I use Windows 7 and an HP laptop with an internal CD-DVD burner.

When I burn music CDs, about 30% of the time the whole CD is good. About 70% of the times most of the CD is good, but there are some bad tracks. For example, recently I burned a 25 track CD for use in a musical, and it was fine till track 20, which was noisy, and some tracks thereafter. I usually use "copy CD" functions, and I've tried three different programs (Cyberlink DVD Suite, Ashampoo, and CDEX). All have the same errors. I did a test with two plain music CDs with 11 tracks each; One was fine, one was unusable after about track 6. I don't get any errors from the system or programs, the programs report the CDs were copied fine. And the error comes up on several car CD players and home CD players, not just one.

So I'll skip duplicating the FAQ and share my most common fixes.

1. Record at 2X speed.
2. Use other media.
3. Don't use black or CDRW media.
4. Use a new CD recorder. (Old drives tend to lose laser power.)

Your issue is an old one, well covered in the CDR FAQ and my reply is to share what I've used to fix some of these. It will never fix the car AudioCD issue (which is noted in the CDR FAQ.)

And to head off where the CDR FAQ is, I used google.

From where are you obtaining the music to burn? Are the music tracks saved somewhere, such as my music or doc files or an external drive? Over the years I have burned and copied a lot of music to CD my favorite software for that purpose, has been Nero. As Bob stated, drives don't last forever I have gone through several and in fact ordered a new drive 2 days ago to replace a notchy unit in one of my systems.
