My son wants a better graphics card. Currently the computer has an integrated card- ATI Radeon 4200 (says it accepts PCI Express X16 graphics cards). He plays Runescape and World of Warcraft. He says one of them has horrible graphics on his computer. I would like to upgrade. I am looking for an inexpensive, decent card, nothing too expensive if possible. Here are the specs on his puter...
It is an HP Pavillion p7-1003w
AMD Athlon II X4 650
8GB memory with room for more
1 TB harddrive
Internal 250W (100-240V) power supply
Any suggestions on which way to go? Also, if I upgrade the video card will I need a new power supply and if so what would be a good inexpensive option.

After that you need a whopper single rail PSU and a card from this list.

The PSU is power supply unit? If I get one of the more powerful graphic cards do you have a suggestion on power supply?
I'd need to know a lot more to suggest a PSU.

Sorry but I don't know if this machine has 20 hard drives or there is a chance you'll want to install 2 video cards, etc.

The computer is basic from the store. Just the one harddrive and I would only be putting one graphics card in.
Then pick the video card, find a review with the WATTS

Now add that number of Watts to your current PSU and go get that or larger with a "Single Rail +12V" feature.
It is really that simple. I like to run my power supplies at 50% rating under full load. So my last desktop which would top out at 300 Watts using a P3 Watt Meter (see google) had a 650 Watt PSU.
