Thanks for the reply. To try to clarify the situation I printed a wireless network test report on the printer which included a diagnostic summary and a configuration summary and everything passed and in order. The computer is connected to the same network and is working. However.when I try to print something from the computer I get a message that it won't print because the printer status is offline.

At this point I'm working as if it never worked and you followed HP's instructions to the letter.

If so, turn off the firewall in the router and repeat HP's install instruction for the non-working PC.

-> Details matter such as what this "working" means. I would be guessing other PCs work fine. Also I'd be guessing if the drivers are the latest from HP.com

Thanks for the suggestion to turn off the firewall. That was the problem and now I can print.

Routers for years didn't have this because part of what they do meant that any unsolicited incoming connection was dropped at the router. Later as the scare mongers wrote about firewalls this idea crept into routers to block machines inside the LAN.

The results speak for themselves.

I have this identical problem, my printer worked fine (printed wirelessly) before I upgraded my router. Bob would you explain how to turn off the router firewall? In very basic language please, I'm not very techie at all. Thanks.

To write more I'd have to have the router make, model and preferably the link to the manual so I can see what page the setting is noted on.

It's called the firewall, it's in new routers and often we have to turn it off. Sadly the next question from many is whether it compromises security or questions I think the router maker deserves.

You may want to consider returning it if they have no manual. It's a technical device that should have a manual.
