Because you seem to be a gamer and a heavy one then do whatever it takes to make that possible. Also, any "multi-core" cpu won't necessary be useful by games unless they're geared to be. So, don't expect a agame to better played unless it also is using the best it can be from the PC being offered. Getting the top-shelf items will make a better gaming platform and DON"T forget cooling, damn good cooling. Don't try to make a dual use PC, just build it for the best you can afford for the primary use. You'll be surprised that it can do both, but the % of use is what should decide its main build. I can't make it plainer than that.

So for gamers, they often get 1,000 buck CPUs and then cut the GPU where the real action is.
