I'm trying to troubleshoot a PC issue here at work and need some help in making a determination as to the problem.
The person who's PC is experiencing the issue reported to me that they began having issues 4-5 days ago where they would be using the PC and the screen would "go out and come back several times" during that session. It finally went out completely yesterday. When the PC is powered on the monitor just shows a black background with "no signal" floating as it does when the PC is off but monitor is on. I need to know if it's safe to assume that the video card has failed. I tried another monitor and cable on the PC but got the same result.
Second question....How do I determine the right replacement video card to buy? The person using that PC does not use it for games but occasionally watches videos. Can I purchase one of the lower end cards and be ok?
Thank You for your assistance.
