NVIDIA removal

HELP! I have an ACER R1600 slim computer.
NVIDIA uses up about 1,024.00 MB of space.
I don't play ANY games on this computer.
Can I "remove" NVIDIA from my computer and
not affect the use of other uses on it....
(ie: real player, windows media player, etc.?
Don't want to remove NVIDIA and then find out
I can't do a lot of other things.

A folder in Program Files? Indeed, 1 GB is rather a lot for that. What exactly is in it?

You would need at least part of it to have the full pleasure of your video card and screen. So any delete must be partial. And 1 GB out of the usual 250 GB or so on the hard disk isn't that much either. So I wonder if it's worth the trouble to find out all the details.

I can actually see why NVidia takes so much space on your hard drive; you're using the NVIDIA ION LE chipset, and NVIDIA ION graphics, these 2 programs will each need their own file (for drivers, etc.) and the NVidia folder.
So if you remove the NVidia folder altogether, then I would think that you would have problems not only with your chipset (on the motherboard), but also with your audio/ video.

After reading some of the comments on newegg; I would have to say that its' probably the 'bloatware' on your computer that's taking up so much space, there are a number of (small) programs to remove such crap from the system-PC Decrapifier for one http://download.cnet.com/PC-Decrapifier/3000-2096_4-10636481.html?tag=mncol

NVIDIA DRIVER

avg4me ~ you might be careful about deleting NVIDIA objects, it could mess up your video. Every so often I go to the NVIDIA website and check to see if they have released a new driver and DLL software version for my DELL. If so, I download and install it. However, I would not count on the latest version being smaller than previous versions. I usually delete any programs and DLL's from old versions after updating the new stuff.

some are just installation files.

Did you check what exactly inside the NVIDIA folder?
