DVD+R or DVD-R

Is DVD-R on the way out? I've noticed that most of the Blue Ray players don't seem to play DVD-R. My home video library is on DVD-R burned discs so I'm wondering if I will need to transfer to +R discs when I upgrade my DVD player.

Both should be around until you need them and then the one will be discontinued. See Murphy's Law.

The good news is that the gear I see today does care if it's a plus or minus on the media. Old gear might care.

what you said about BDP is not true. Most that I have seen do play both. Which one did you have in mind?

I meant my discs are DVD+R. I looked at the Sony BDPS300 and the Samsung BDP1500. The specs for both stated supported SD disc formats DVD, DVD-R and DVD-RW but not DVD+R. Thanks for bearing with me, I'm not too technologically advanced:)
