power supply

HP a6200n AMD athlon 64X2 dual-core pro5000+ 2GB ram, system has a BESTEC ATX-250-12V power supply but i want to install a larger one of at least 350watts,any suggestions thanks.

And skip the 350s. I usually just head to the 500W so I never have to do that again.

HP and OEM systems

OEM systems like HP have some physical sizing requirements. So be sure to check that or simply ask for your HP model it will work. Try this website for such(expensive) but you'll hardly worry about psu issues:

Bestec ATX-1956D 200 Watt Replacement Power Supply (surf it)

It's a good idea to get a large wattage psu, but if cost is an issue, then 350W may suffice. However, if you can spend more, its money well worth it in the 400W+ and above range. Be sure to read the specs, some offer X-wattage but the real dependable level is usually 80%, but I use 75% of rated listing.

I have been using PC Power and Cooling from 1993 till today, I build systems check with them about a replacement for your hp! Their warranty is unmatched and when they say its 400 watts its been tested to do better than that!

What power supply did you get?

I'm curious, did you find an upgraded power supply that fit inside the case and that you are happy with? I just purchased the same pc and would like to upgrade the power supply myself -- thanks!
