How to determine what resolution my video card will support?

I am running Windows XP Home Edition and have a Viewsonic E90fb 19" color monitor that I'm thinking about replacing with a 19-20" LCD flatpanel with higher resolution.
My current display adapter is an NVIDIA GeForce4 MX 440 with AGP8X. I'm wondering if my current video card will support the higher resolutions of the new LCD monitors, and how to best determine if it will? If it won't, any recommendations on reasonably-priced graphics card that will(BTW: Gaming graphics are not a big consideration). Thanks.
