Power consumption of a desktop computer

Can anyone advise me what the average hourly power consumption of a desktop computer would be if left running when not in use ( monitor is switched off). I appreciate this would vary from model to model and would only expect a ballpark figure, there is nothing to indicate the consumption in the manual or any labelling on the computer stating the wattage. I do tend to leave it running continuously and with ever increasing power costs I am interested what I could save if it was switched on only when in use.

Mine is under 200 Watts.

I have another that I selected as a small 24x7 server and it's under 50 Watts. However, it was designed to be light on the energy draw.

Other PCs I'm sure are under 100 Watts.

So for the numbers I'd use 200 Watts.

http://www.dansdata.com/power2.htm is notable in that it gives the 175 Watt number but mentions a C3 powered unit which is my low power consumption 24x7 server.

typical modern desktop at idle is about 140-170W

An idle P4 will consume about 170W, an idle Athlon64 about 140W. Consider putting the PC in sleep mode to get down to about 30W. Here's a chart with a number of system/CPU figures:

PC Power Consuption

I'm wondering if anybody could hepl me determine the approximate power consuption of one set PC and 17" LCD Monitor.

I just started to operate an internet/video shop business with 17 sets of destop PC with Monitors and one unit 1Hp airconditioner cor a 24-square-meter store space. The elcctric company charged me US$300 for the first one month operation. I feel it's too much cosidering the low-power consumption of modern computers now. the average operating hours is 16Hrs/day.

I'll preciate if anyone could share insights with me regarding power consumption (wattage) per set of PC desktop and monitor.
