Monitor shuts off, computer still running

by jr8crew - 1/9/06 6:56 PM

Here are my specs

Asus a8v deluxe board
Kingston 2x256 512mb ddr400 in first dims
Kingston 2x512 1.0gb ddr400 in second dims
Western Digital 200gb 7200rpm 8mb cache drive
Antec 430 watt atx 12v power supply
amd64 3500+ processor
ATI Radeon 8500 Video Card
DVD Burner and Cdburner Drive
On Board Sound

In the past i have had problems where that my computer would be running a bunch of rar files together back into one file, which makes the computer run hard and the monitor(video) would shut off and i would have a blinking green light on the monitor like the computer shut down but the computer is still running, just to get the monitor(video) back on, it happened with my old monitor and it is doing it with my new lcd monitor, i'm thinking the video card is just getting to warm, but i have 4 fans running, the power supply fan 2 atx case fans in the back and the processor fan

Can anyone help me, what is my problem, video card, power or what, oh and video just shuts off under a heavy load and the computer has been on for awhile like overnight

I have looked to upgrading the video card but i don't play games anymore expect for my ps2, i do more multimedia stuff with my camcorder, so i have looked into buying the asus a8n-vm csm motherboard with intergrated sounf=d and video for $80 at www.zipzoomfly.com any suggestions from anyone..

Thanks

Tony(jr8crew)
