SD Memory Card scratch

I have a Sandisk 512 Mb. SD card, and I've used it for over 3 months now on my Kodak Easyshare DX4330 Digital camera. When I observe the card, I see scratches on the gold plates of the card. The card still works, but I'm worried that it might not last longer. A few years ago, I bought my first SD memory card, and I experienced the same problem, scratches. Can anyone help me???

I use both sd and smartmedia. Let's see, i think i have 1 32mb sd and 1 32mb smartmedia along with an additional 128mb smartmedia card. I jam the cards into the memory card reader rather harshly, and theres even some residue from food on one of them, and it works fine. If you're worried, maybe make a backup of your pics or get a new card. 512MB will cost what, ~$50?

There will come the time when those points will have no metal and there will not be any contact. Is that whet companies rely on so we keep replacing them?
