Manage updates with the Download App
Hello everyone,
My external HDD was formatted in the NTFS file system. I used the program CompuApps Swissknife V3 to reformat the file system into FAT32. I want to use FAT32 because that is the only file system the Xbox 360 can read. So once I did the reformat... I instantly got the BSOD. Now when I try to boot with the external HDD it shows the BSOD for 1.5 seconds and then restarts. When I boot without it and get to my desktop and try to plug it in...I wait a few moments and it shows the BSOD again and the laptop restarts. Is there anyway to fix this?

What I would do is to download a bootable GPARTED disk, burn it to CD (using IMGBURN), then boot from that and use that to delete the offending partition on that disk. Then, using either that gparted or Windows disk management, make a new FAT32 partition. That's in the hope that Linux won't restart when it sees that external disk.

Where do I download a GPARTED disk. And how would I boot from that and delete the partition to make a new one? And im using windows xp.

You don't have to answer but out of curiosity why not use a search for your first question?
Yes to your second question. As to XP, IMGBURN runs fine on XP SP2 and later.

The name is short for Graphic Partition Manager. So it has a GUI. That might be clear enough for you to understand (it was for me) and do what you want to do. If not, I'm sure there are instructions, examples and tutorials to find on the net.
Since it comes with its own OS, it's not important what you run now to run it. And as Bob already said, IMGBURN does run in Windows XP.

Ok well now I have ran into another problem. I was trying what you guys said. My internal cd/dvd drive doesn't work. So I have a USB external cd/dvd drive. In my Sony VAIO VGN-FS790 BIOS menu, its not giving me the option to boot from the USB Optical Drive. I have the most updated drivers already. Any suggestions?
