Going crazy over this printer problem!! PLEASE HELP!

by bloodruns4ever - 10/6/12 4:58 PM

So I have an HP Deskjet 3050 printer that I used for college last semester, worked great. Packed it up for the summer, and now that I tried setting it back up, it would never print anything.... I tried re-installing the drivers millions of times, uninstalling and reinstalling the printer software, even trying to download the drivers on someone elses computer, yet nothing worked. When you go and right click on the printer and click printer preferences it says "Operation could not be complete." If you right click it and click printer properties it says "The 'HP Deskjet 3050 J160(whatever series number it was)' printer driver is not installed on this computer. Some printer properties will not be accessible unless you install the printer driver. Do you want to install the driver now?"

No matter how many times I try to install the drivers, nothing happens and I keep getting the same error and can't print.

I figured it was the printer and got fed up and went and bought an HP Deskjet 1050 J410.... Only to get all the same errors upon installation. So it was not the printer... but I can't for the life of me figure this out and it is making me so frustrated... It's making me want to just do a whole format of my system and start from scratch!!!!

Please, if anyone has a solution, I would be so grateful.

I am running on Windows 7 64 bit by the way
