Attach Dell st2220m using Vesa

I wish to use a VESA stand to hold a DELL ST2220m monitor. Naturally, the monitor doesn't have VESA holes on the back. Can I remove the Dell symbol on back and either drill into it or glue a 5x5 piece of 1/2" board to it and then drill the wood? Prefer not to spend $40 for bracket on eBay.

The bracket looks to be abotu 22 + shipping.

Thanks for your response.

FYI Postage is $12 so close $35.

I'm aware I can do what I want but really wonder if anyone had experience/knowledge of how monitor is constructed.

And type in your model number and then the word disassembly. If you're lucky someone has opened it up.
