Two identical printers in one - 1 text and 1 photo?

I would like to create two images of the same printer - one setup with text properties (regular paper, duplex, fast,...) and one setup with photo properties (glossy paper, non-duplex, high quality...). I have Vista Home Premium. I did this w/XP on a previous compter and it worked great. I can't figure out how to do this w/Vista. Any help out there?

This needs way more explanation, can't understand the jist of this, wonder if anyone else can.

Probably a driver problem.
Also depends upon if you are using the same printer as before.
And when you went from XP to Vista, you probably need to update to a Vista printer driver.

Same printer, and the drivers are updated. Further explanation - I would like to use one physical network printer with two printer images - one image setup as a text printer and one image setup as a photo printer. (By the way, the printer is a Canon MX870, not that it matters.) I have tried this with my Vista notebook and my wife's Windows 7 notebook. Neither worked. I couldn't create a second image of the printer, let alone define that second image with different preferences. I have the printer setup with two images on my XP tower. Does this make it clearer?
