Today I plugged in my relatively old 320g SimpleTech external drive to my laptop. I had not used it on this computer before, so windows had to locate the driver. It made the windows "connect" noise and everything. However, it never showed up in the computer window. I restarted the drive, restarted the computer, tried it in another computer; I never got it to appear in the computer window. I called the manufacturer, and they said it was irrevocably broken and they were not allowed to advice me on data recovery methods. I am not sure I believe them.
Any ideas how I can access the data or recover the data from this drive?
