Whatn are the trade offs of printing at higher resolutions?

Hi. I've just acquired a colour laser printer and was wondering, whether the only trade off of selecting "highest quality resolution" as the default for printing, is slower output speeds. I'd assume that would be the case, but are there any other (particularly financial) implications?
For instance, I can't see how this would mean using more toner, but thought I'd get advice from the forum's more knowledgable pool of wisdom!

but I would say the opposite. Yes, it would use more toner and that would have a financial impact.

If you are printing at high quality more toner is being used to to achieve that.

The only way to show this with absolute certainty is to carry out a bench test. Two toners, one used after the other on the same printer. The first, use only high quality printing on the same document over and over again. The second, use lower quality printing, on the same document as before, over and over again.

Which toner cartridge prints the most documents?

There was another way to do the test.

But it's not as long and uses less paper. You weigh the cartridges before and after some test run. It will have to be a lab quality scale but it is possible to get an answer in about 100 sheets of each cartridge.

May advice is to pick what fits the need. If draft or lowest settings are acceptable, use it.
