Thanks so much for your reply, I will follow your advice for the drivers & the firmware upgrade! One thing that I guess I didn't make clear the Dell All-in-one software is missing (no CD & no software on the computer either I looked for it, it's gone!), I need to get that back also, anyway to do that without the Dell CD?

I have been in the middle of a nightmare with Dell, especially for the last 3 weeks. I will pass the details.

I have a dell printer AIO 962 and dell dimension 9100 bought in 2005.
I have windows XP professionnal and office XP. I have DSL with bellsouth and uses McAffee security. I am very strict in updating very regularly. My CD has only 20% used.Ram memory is now 4GB

Things were going ok with the printer (except cleaning the cartridges very often and wasting a lot of ink with these cleanings,).
It just stopped working about 3 or 4 weeks ago: I can copy documents,
but I cannot print neither scan.For me it sounds and looks like Steve 1209 topic. I wonder if you could help me.

For the history,
when I update with dell it says I am fine.
When I update with microsoft, in the options they recommend updating with an inkjet driver update, which I downloaded successfully after several trials..before microsoft kept giving a message with the yellow arrow that some driver needs to be updated.It seems that some problems started after that
Since I contacted Dell, I had to take additionnal warranties driver and software (end of the life warranty..)and refused to buy a new computer and printer that I cannot afford being on disability.
I was told my computer was contaminated, and I had to buy portable hardrive,and they wanted to change OS.They did not yet
I had the computer tested twice by McAffee and finally was said it was OK.
After several times with software and printer people, they removed and reinstalled a 2005 driver ( when dell tried to print it started but the paper jammed and after that I am told to check again with software people as there is a run time error...They install a 2nd printer AIO 2.Well despite my payment I am listed as out of warranty so I am waiting before recontacting software. Meanwhile Dell asked me to upgrade my memory RAM and am at 4GB now.
I have the feeling I am going nowhere whith DELL.
Each time they accessed my computer for diagnostic. After 2 of these interventions I got an alert about artemis that I eliminated.
I found some help with a 2005 procedure about inkjets with a revision on august 20 2009. I tried to follow the procedure got stock as at one time you need to restart the computer and then cannot go back to the process.

Presently the situation is the following when I restart the computer I get the run time error:
Program:C:/Programfiles/Dell photo AIO Printer 962/dlbxmon.exe
This application has requested the runtime to terminate an unsual way.Please contact the application's support team for support for more info.
When I want to print a page, I see the icon printer coming in at the bottom right and disappear rapidly and nothing happens.no error message.

I do hope you can help me as I see so many similaritiea with steve 1209.
I apologyse for the computer terminology I used , I am a 65 senior who learned about computer by myself and I am at the verge to loose my sanity..

Allowing Microsoft to update your drivers is not a very good ides. Microsoft either offers the wrong drivers and/or they get installed wrong, causing many devices to fail. The dlbxmon.exe error message is one of the error messages from this printer.

Disconnect your printer. Run the patch, from post 2, until it prompts you to restart your computer. Restyart your computer. Install the XP drivers from post 2. You should get a message saying the printer is not connected. At that time connect the printer.(powered on) Please use a 6ft or smaller USB Cable.

As for scanning, if you have the disk that came with the printer, then insert the Printer disk and stop it from running. Go to My Computer and double click on it. Look for the drive with the Dell disk in it. Right click on it, left click explore. Look for the OCR Folder. In the OCR Folder, there is an Abbyy Folder. right click on setup.exe, that's in the Abbyy Folder and left click run as administrator. This will install the OCR program.

I have a similar problem - I've lost my initial driver disks for my DELL 922 AIO and when I download drivers from the DELL web site I don't get the "All-In-One Center" after I run the installation, so I can't use the scanner.

Is there a similar "trick" to getting this to work for the 922?

Hi - This worked perfectly. Thank you for this information. I was at a loss w/out my scanner. However, after applying the below steps, my XP Professional Dell computer is now running very slow. Have you run into this before? Any suggestions on how to remedy?

Your post gave me the info I need the to fix my computer/printer
Problems. Its been broken since 12/30/08 my dell 962 allinone
fax & copy was great But could not scan or print.
I updated my drivers & Some file a dell fle was deleted it was misstaken for a malware or adware file dell charged me 75 bucks or so and didnot even fix it could not find my original installation cd's
tryed again an again with no good result untill there was you and you post
