Photos printing yellow

Hi,
I am having a new problem with my HP Photosmart 8450. My photos are all coming out with most greens and browns and skin tones replaced with a nasty yellow. I have not changed anything and have printed hundreds of pictures without any problems in the past. If anyone can suggest a solution, I would be most thankful.

When did you last check the ink cartridges?

This type of printer uses 3 color ink cartridges. When one is empty, the mix goes wrong and you get unexpected colors printed.

If you have replaced the cartridges recently, try using the printer controls or the printer software to carry out a nozzle check.

Hi Mark,

I recently replaced all of them. I have also gone to the toolbox and use the clean, the align and the color calibration. Everything prints out fine until I try to print a photo. In addition, I make sure I choose the correct paper type as well. I have not found a nozzle check however. Is there a way to get to that?

was "Automatically cleaning the print cartridges" from page 45 of the manual.

I got the manual in pdf format from HP Photosmart under HP Photosmart 8450 series user manual.

Even under Troubleshooting for "Colors are not printing properly", page 54, I got referred back to page 45, although page 54 did suggest that poor quality ink cartridges could be a problem.

If none of that helps, then I can only suggest going back to HP and giving the problem back to them.

I had the same problem and all you have to do is go to menu, tools, clean cartridges, and then put in paper for it to print on, it took me two levels for it to work but now it works great! I know this is a little late for you but just incase anyone else finds this page with the same issue.
