Networking & wireless forum: how do you properly set up a WDS network

When they are on auto select is the signal stable or does it fluctuate as the router tries to find an appropriate channel?

It's in an open air space so if there are interfering signals it's fine to see fluctuation. In face if a big moving van comes by you can spot it by a change in signal strength. The only time I saw a stable signal was out on the test range. Why? Well the companies I work for design RF gear and we go to a small valley far away from other signals during testing.

so please tell me @R.profit do you know how to establish a proper WDS network? in terms of how the routers should be configured and all coz i have tried but its just not working out. please shed some light.

Can you write how that differs from WDS? I know of a WDS that is maker specific but we never use that since it's too unreliable.

when wireless routers are in WDS mode they hand over signals to each other. they act as one router.
A user can move from a building to another building without having to reconnect to another router.
It enables mobility and is useful in a office environment.

Such would be offered by a maker of such. I've yet to see such work today with the hodge podge of gear out there. All the users I know will not accept they would have to trash all their existing gear.

So at this point you call up Netgear and others and ask which hardware to use. Then you get them to sign off that it will work or you get a refund. I've lost count of folk chasing seamless hand offs. That is, I've seen it fail too often when an app has an open TCP/IP connection and it drops on the handoff.
