Need advice on a wireless router

I need a router to replace the one we currently rent from TDS Telecom.

We have an Actiontec GT724-WG router that has both wired and wireless (WiFi) connections. It is wired to our Dell desktop computer upstairs and connects wirelessly to the Toshiba L-655-S5153 notebook computer downstairs. We have two Samsung Blu Ray players and a Kindle WiFi model each of which connects wirelessly to the internet via the Actiontec router upstairs.

Any suggestions???

Are you sure it's a router only? Not a modem/router combo?
And why do you want to replace it?

Good question - this is actually something on my father's Christmas list. He says it IS a combo - he just has this one box, not a modem and a router. He wants to replace it to avoid paying the monthly rental fees.

It would be nice to know what issue you are trying to solve. But yes you can replace it but remember that in cable and DSL the provider only will allow certain models. So be sure they accept your replacements.

Thank you for the link and advice! The current one is a combo modem/router and is a rental - so the issue to solve is really paying the monthly rental fees!
