Trouble w/LinkSys WRT54GS router

by FrozenOkie2 - 8/6/12 8:34 AM

Stuck & I need a lil help plz!

Basic Facts: ATT DSL service w/Motarola 3360 modem; LinkSys WRT54gs router, Desktop XP, Laptop Vista, iPhone

Previous old DSL modem quit, replaced w/Mot 3360 & have been trying to get internet service back. & having trouble getting wireless router to function correctly. Had never had any problems until modem died & its been a nightmare since.

When DSL modem is hooked up to Desktop PC directly no problems internet service works just fine, but have no wireless because the wrt54gs is not connected..

Now when the hook up is DSL modem > LinkSys WRT54GS > Desktop PC & wireless laptop no internet service what so ever. I updated the firmware on the wrt54gs to most current. I also re-loaded LinkSys EasyLink Advisor (old ver did not function completely) Even the Network map shows all equipment w/ proper names & etc. All connections show 'green' on display map, but still no internet service. All indicator lights on DSL modem are solid green (1-4 solid & 5 flickers); on the wrt54gs the indicator lights seem to be correct as well, Power On; WLAN flickers, Ethernet 1 On, Internet On - but still no internet on desktop or wireless on the laptop.

The laptop shows the network signal (bars) on the laptop but nothing 'comes' thru. I have signal but no internet. Even the iPhone shows signal/bars but no service

Even when viewing the 'Network Map' on EasyLink Advisor I can see each & every piece of equipment on the network & they go from grey to green as they are powered up which to me seems correct.

So stuck .... suggestions?

Thx

Tony ...... aka FrozenOkie2
